The Amazing Trap That is Meal Delivery Service

You know how the second you have a thought in your head, how ads start popping up immediately all over your Facebook and Instagram feeds? That’s because of the FBI.

But thankfully this mind hacking brainwashing sense of control the government gets off on led me to Hungry Root.

I had millions of ads popping up for meal delivery services. Home Chef, Hello Fresh, Plated, Blue Apron, the list goes on. And I thought, nah that’s not for me. I can do my own grocery shopping and cooking!!

The catch was that I am currently making a lifestyle change and becoming vegan. My wife and I have only consumed chicken for the past 6 years, 8 for her. We also consume a lot of cheese and eggs. We never drink regular milk because come on, that shit is fucking NASTY. I’ll explain more at another time.

I was getting tired of seeing a lot of people I look up to being vegan and the wonderful food they eat and decided to stop saying maybe one day, and just do it.

Turns out, shopping for vegan food is hard. And attempting to make grocery lists for one recipe was costing me too much time and money. And that’s when Hungry Root started popping up on my feeds.

Hungry Root is 100% vegan and gluten-free. All the food you receive is plant based, nutrient rich, contains healthy fats (yes, fats are healthy), and complex carbs. The recipes are extremely simple to make and take anywhere from 1 minute – 22 minutes. No gluten, no dairy, no preservatives, no trans fats, limited added sugars, and low sodium. It is perfect.

And the next major fact of Hungry Root that completely sold me on this decision? All packaging is 100% recyclable. The big boxes I am going to save, break down, and put into storage for if we move again in the near future. All the plastic containers for the food I rinse out and recycle. The insulating cotton material is made from are already made from 100% recycled cotton and is completely biodegradable in the trash. The ice packs! This had me shook. The ice packs are filled with non-toxic gel that can be discarded in the trash and the lining recycled. BOOM.

I’m obsessed.

I will gladly take a $70 box of food sent weekly to my door over a $120 Publix tab every week. Don’t get me wrong, I love Publix. But shopping on my own is stressful and I cannot focus on anything, I don’t know I’m weird. And I always forget to pix up something. It never fails.
